A group of plus size models are on a mission to promote body diversity in the fashion industry and show women around the world that beauty really does come in all shapes and sizes. The five women are part of ALDA - a collaboration of models who want to "alter perceptions, engage and empower other women" both inside and outside the fashion industry. The plus-size models all appeared to be overweight or obesebut none were morbidly obese. After the women observed each image, they were asked to categorize the model based on her body type, rate how attractive and pleasant they perceived her, and indicate how much they compared themselves to her. When thin women were on the screen, the participants made more comparisons to their own bodies, paid less attention, and remembered less about the models.
Diana Sirokai uploaded the side-by-side shot of her posing nude in a pair of boots similar to those worn by Hadid in the original ad.
